We’ve had to wait for a lot of things in our lives, but waiting for some definitive news about what is going on with Oksana has been one of the biggest tests of patience ever. Feeling my own lack of patience is causing me to realize how true it is that the real test of character is when that character is tried. The Bible says, “The trying of your faith works patience, and patience experience, and experience hope - and hope makes not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that is given unto us.”

What we’re finding, is that giving thanks is the best way to battle impatience. Impatience is really just a form of ungratefulness. And we have so much for which to be thankful.  We have a wonderful network of friends and family who are standing by us. The procedures and doctor visits that we have already had have happened remarkably quickly.  And we are in America, the best place for Oksana to get treatment.  Most of all, we have the wonderful blessing of God’s promises and His presence.  The moment I begin to fix my eyes on this, patience becomes a lot easier. The reason that I even bother sharing this with you, is because I know that we all have in areas in our lives right now that require patience.

So, as we wait on the Lord, and wait for news of what is really going on with Oksana, please pray that God will keep our hearts at peace in Him.

Learning Patience
