As I read the prayer of King Asa a few days ago, from 2 Chronicles 14:9, I thought of the uncertainties that are before us as we travel back to Ukraine. King Asa was facing an enemy army of a million men and yet he put his trust in God and overcame the adversity. He prayed,
"LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go... O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!"
That is what I want our prayer to be as we prepare, in just seventeen days from the day I write this, to move back to Ukraine and into a culture, language, circumstances, surroundings, and ministry challenges that are so different from what we have faced over the past year here in the U.S. I can identify with those words, “those who have no power...” I feel that way!
But, “In Your name we go! We rest on You!” What an assurance to realize that the God who has been bringing us through every assault of the enemy during these past months is the God who goes before us now into these new circumstances.
Indeed, all of our uncertainties are certainties to God.
