The Sobie Family - Ministry in Ukraine

From Oksana....

How happy we are to have Scott back home!  For a whole month, he was traveling throughout Ukraine ministering with Dr. Glick.  He shared with us about the amazing work of God in the lives of people.  He came back home with so many incredible stories and I’m sure that he will share them with you later (or, you can read the book when it comes out!)
As Scott, Dan, and the team were traveling and witnessing the dynamic power of God in changing lives, I was wishing that the children and I could join them.
Of course, I do have my own congregation of five, and I daily have the chance to teach and preach to them!  I believe that this is the most important responsibility that a mother can have.
But even though I didn’t travel with Scott, the Lord saw that longing in my heart to be involved and share with others about my faith.
One Sunday morning during this time, after an hour of the church service, our ten-month old Damara decided that she had some deep theological truths of her own that she wanted to share out loud with everybody (“loud” being the key word).  Seeing that no one was understanding the point that she was trying to get across, I had to quickly take her out.
As I walked out, she became calm, and in the foyer of the church was a couple that had just walked in.  They asked me where they could buy wooden crosses to keep them from evil.  As we talked, the Lord gave me an opportunity to talk with them about a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ.  Perfect timing, Damara!
Then, a few days ago, the lady who reads our electric meter came by to get our information.  We started talking and after I mentioned the Lord, she told me about her life, the tragic loss of her son and her assumption that it was the punishment by God for her sins.  Soon, the poor lady was sobbing and I had the privilege of telling her about the wonderful love of God and His desire to comfort and heal her.
Again, I was amazed at God’s timing, because we talked for an hour and it was during the the children’s nap time!
God has divine appointments for us and, so many times, they happen when I least expect them!  A couple of days ago, when I went to offer my neighbor some green beans from our garden, little did I know that this would be the time that she was most open to an invitation to church and to listen to me as I encouraged her to come to God.
It’s so true.  Little do we know how our daily encounters, tasks, and just the fulfilling of responsibilities (like that of a wife, mother, and houskeeper!) can have a great influence for God’s kingdom.
May the Lord bless you, too, as you do your part for Him!

Keeping the light on at home!
