Ministering in Ukraine
The
Sobie
Family
Hello, and welcome to the internet home of the Sobie family! My  name is Scott, and our family has a desire to serve the Lord by serving the people of the former Soviet Union, especially in Ukraine where Oksana, my wife, was raised. This web site is an opportunity for us to post regular updates so that you, our friends and prayer supporters, can effectively know how our family is doing, what we are doing, and how you can pray! May Jesus Christ be honored and glorified! Thank you, and we hope that you enjoy our site!

Happy Easter!  That’s right, since Ukraine is on the Orthodox calendar, our Easter was this past Sunday!
It was a wonderful time of celebrating the resurrection of our Lord with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Easter Sunday was also a busy day, as I preached and sang during the morning service at the Dneprorudniy church, and we also used our van to bring people from a neighboring village.
In the afternoon, I drove to another village to give a church my video projector to use for an evangelistic Easter program.
We then had guests over for fellowship during the evening meal, and after they left, more guests came and stayed till almost midnight!
Easter is exactly the reason we are here in Ukraine:  because “I know that my Redeemer lives!” (Job 19:25)
Our schedules have been so busy lately, with house repairs, guests, and all the garden work, home-schooling, and preparation for guests this spring and summer.  In just a few days, we are looking forward to the Hunsucker family coming to live in our area.  They are a missionary family who have been living in Russia and are coming here to Ukraine while they work out some problems the Russian government gave them with their visas.  They will be living with us while they try to find a local apartment.  In the meantime, they will be a great blessing and encouragement to the churches in our area.  Will Hunsucker and I worked with the same ministry in Moscow many years ago!
Please continue to pray that God would make us a blessing for His sake here in Ukraine.

Prayer Requests: Watch our 2006 ministry video update
- We encountered a problem with our well-drilling.  As we hammered a pipe into the hole we were drilling, the sledgehammer broke and fell into the water and mud 9 meters deep.  After trying for days to fish it out with magnets and other means, we have had no success.  We have now had to give up on that particular well.  Pray that God will give us wisdom to know what other options to pursue with our water situation.

- There is still a lot of important paperwork that needs to be done before we can continue work on our ministry center.  Pray for these documents to be done quickly.

- Pray for the Lord’s blessing as we encourage, preach, and share with people on a daily basis

- Please pray that God would continue to uphold Oksana physically and protect her from any return of the cancer.
